Need help with an air build
Hi folks.. I've always been a fire ele but I'm finally seeing the advantages of using air, especially for PvP. A guildie gave me Runar's Brimstone staff (lightning 11-22, energy +15, 20/20, armor +7 vs eles) which encouraged me to have a go. This is essentially for FvF but I might give it a go in PvE too.
Air 16
Energy Storage 8
Healing 9
(note I haven't done hero's challenge attrib quest, and I might also get a minor energy storage rune for my armor).
Conjure Lightning
Healing Breeze
Blinding Flash (key to my build)
Lightning Strike (good dmg for 5 energy)
Lightning Orb
Chain Lightning
Mending
Res Chant (for PvE)
Please suggest changes as I'm finding this build too energy heavy. For a start should I put Air Attunement in for something?

Do the 15 attribute quest, capture Ether Prodigy. Then we can talk.
Peace,

FvF...as in 12v12?
For PvE use Earth. Ward Against Melee, Dual Crystal Waves, and Earthquakes can go a long way.

You're going to need an energy elite. Ether Prodigy is the most robust, but you can run double attunements as well. The latter is a better option in certain PvE zones.
You're absolutely right that Blinding Flash is the key to your build. It's the most important skill available to an air guy, learn to love it.
For attacks you're going to want Lightning Orb and Lightning Strike. Neither is anything special but they get the job done. You might not need a 3rd attack in PvP, but for PvE you'll probably want one. I like Enervating Charge for the dual use. Chain Lightning is pretty uninspiring, but if you're PvEing and really need an AoE option it's there. That works better with double Attunements than Prodigy though.
The other important utility skills you should look at are Gale and Windborne Speed. They are critical for PvP, the latter especially so in 12v12. In PvE, they aren't that important.
As you're an E/Mo, you're going to want some heals. Healing Breeze is fine but make sure you have the enchanting weapon (unfortunately the staff you were given doesn't have one) - actually you should find an enchanting weapon in any case, since you'll want it for attunements or prodigy. You should also be carrying Heal Party in any 8 man format, it's just a great heal for your team. I think Mending is generally a poor choice on a caster, you should be staying back out of harm's way most of the time, and that makes Mending a waste of energy. Also, don't write off Aura of Restoration, especially if you're running attunements. In addition to the health it gives you, it will cover the more important enchantments.
Always bring a res in PvE - res chant is fine, and if it's too slow, pack a sig. In 12 man that's not neccessary of course.
Peace,
-CxE

May not be a bad idea to bring a hex-removal skill, either. There's also Martyr.

Thanks very much Ensign, that advice was useful. Skills are now sorted, and got a maxed air staff with +5 armor head, and buying a +20 enchant wrap (possibly from a guildie). As for armor, I currently have 15k pyro's (which looks awesome dye'd gold) but I can't help thinking battlemage might be more suited (+armor vs physical) may be a good investment because warriors often go right for me in FvF (alliance battles). Thanks again.

If you want mass condition removal on a E/Mo, bring Extinguish or Draw Conditions.
